This song is about the expectations we place on other people; the assumptions we make about others' actions that we self-certify as "true".

You think you know what I'll do and why I'll do it? That's a bold claim. Gossip is easy--and VERY fun (seriously, it is)--but we make parodies of people in our minds pretty easily. And I do that all the time. This song acknowledges that you and I are constantly evaluating people poorly.

It's also a fun song to blow the doors wide open for what Common Fires can sound like. A lot of you folks know me by my singer-songwriter tunes, but I've always had a taste for arranged music. I actively give myself permission to make whatever sound I want to make, and am no longer bothered by expectations to do what worked for people before. This song isn't like the prior songs, and it is also not like the future Common Fires songs. I know what I'll do--and now, it can be anything.
